Have you ever been sitting in a meeting with something important to say but while you were trying to find the perfect words, the conversation moved on?
Or even worse… someone else said the simpler version of the very thing you were thinking?
Sometimes we believe our ideas have to be completely polished, certain, and criticism-proof before they deserve to be heard.
But that can turn thoughtfulness into silence.
Here’s the S.H.E. Coaching truth: Self-trust isn’t knowing you’re right before you speak. It’s trusting yourself enough to offer what you see, knowing it can still be questioned.
You don’t have to be the most certain person in the room to make a meaningful contribution.
Sometimes leadership simply sounds like:
“Here’s what I’m noticing…”
“My recommendation is…”
“There’s one thing I think we need to consider..."
Your voice is something you’ve been entrusted to steward.
So the next time you’re tempted to keep rehearsing the thought in your head, ask yourself: What do I need to say while it can still make a difference?
Don’t wait until your idea is impossible to challenge. Let it be useful while the conversation can still benefit from it.
